The story
Ail Rose de Lautrec has grown in the Tarn, in south-west France, for centuries. Its pink-streaked cloves are milder and sweeter than ordinary white garlic — a subtle warmth that deepens a dish rather than dominating it.
It carries a Label Rouge and an IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée), one of the very few garlics in Europe to hold either. The harvest comes once a year, in midsummer, and the braids are hung to dry in open barns through the late-June heat.
We bring a small quantity to Reykjavík each year, in late summer. It sells through quickly, so we keep a list — leave your name and you’ll hear first, before it reaches the shop floor.

What to expect
Timing
The harvest is in July, and the garlic is then hung to dry for about two weeks. After that it has to make its way to Iceland — around four weeks or so — so we expect it in hand by the end of August or the start of September.
Quantity
Limited — we carry as much as storage and logistics allow. Those on the list get first access when it goes on sale.
